Digestion
We looked at our digestive system. We learned what the different parts of our digestive system are called and what each part does.
This is our digestive system:
MouthThe mouth breaks up food and makes it slippery so it is easy to swallow.
GulletThe gullet moves the food from the mouth to the stomach.
|
LiverThe liver has lots of functions but here it makes bile to help the stomach digest fat.
StomachThe stomach kills most of the germs on food and begins the digestion of meats and fish.
|
PancreasThe pancreas makes chemicals to digest all kinds of food.
Small IntestineAbsorbs digested food into the blood.
|
Large IntestineThe large intestine takes water out of undigested food.
RectumThe rectum stores the undigested food from the large intastine until it passes out of the body.
